Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra is guided yogic sleep for stress relief and nervous system reset.
Service Description
Yoga Nidra — sometimes called yogic sleep — is one of the most powerful and accessible healing practices available. A guided deep relaxation practice rooted in ancient yogic tradition, Yoga Nidra brings the body into complete rest while the mind remains awake and aware. In this threshold state between waking and sleep, the subconscious becomes accessible, habitual thought patterns loosen, and the conditions for deep healing are created. For those seeking Yoga Nidra in Chicago, Wildlight offers private sessions held in a warm, quiet space designed for complete surrender. A session begins with a Sankalpa — a personal intention planted at the threshold of deep relaxation, where it is most readily received by the subconscious mind. From there, your practitioner guides you through a rotation of consciousness, breath awareness, visualization, and movement through the brain's wave states from beta into alpha and theta. The entire mind and brain become engaged, leaving little room for habitual thinking to take hold. Many clients fall asleep during Yoga Nidra — particularly at first. This is welcome and normal. As the practice becomes more familiar, clients begin to access that precise state of wakeful deep relaxation where the most profound work occurs. Even sleep during a session carries benefit; the body receives what it needs regardless of conscious awareness. The benefits of a regular Yoga Nidra practice are wide-reaching: improved sleep, reduced tension and chronic pain, greater emotional clarity, deepened self-awareness, and an increased capacity to shift patterns that no longer serve. Sessions are 60 minutes and held in person at Wildlight Yoga & Healing Arts in Chicago's Portage Park neighborhood. How to prepare: wear comfortable, loose clothing and plan to do very little afterward. Hydrate well and bring any props that support your comfort — an eye pillow, warm socks, or a blanket. The only thing required is the willingness to receive. Disclaimer: Yoga Nidra sessions are a contemplative wellness practice and are not a substitute for medical or mental health care.
