About the event
Wildlight celebrates the first day of winter with intention setting and yogic rest.
Celebrate the longest night of the year and the gradual return of the sun by gathering around a seasonal altar, setting intentions, and practicing the deeply nourishing rest of yoga nidra.
Yoga Nidra is based on ancient tantric teachings designed to transcend the mind and find freedom. In modern times it has been adapted as a remedy for our stressful lifestyles. Yoga Nidra is performed by resting comfortably in savasana with eyes closed. The systematic meditation takes the practitioner through setting a Sankalpa (intention), rotation of consciousness, breath awareness, sensations, and visualization. Some of the benefits of Yoga Nidra include deep relaxation of mind and body that reduce stress levels, enhanced coping abilities with depression and anxiety, and improvement of concentration and memory.
