About the event

Elawa Farm Foundation is a dreamy, peaceful, historical place set on 16-acres in what feels like a magical, faroff land set in a different time. The Foundation is dedicated to the preservation and stewardship of a unique combination of natural setting, designed landscapes and buildings of architectural and historic signifiance. They gather community through food and agriculture with sustainable gardens with a mission to enrich the community by providing a unique center that inspires an appreciation for gardening, healthy living and historic preservation. More about Elawa Farms here: elawafarm.org/

So we'd like to gather the Wildlight community for a few hours of fresh fall air, relaxation & comfort food. Fall foliage will likely dazzle us with reds, oranges & yellows amongst rows of plants, herbs & gardens. We’ll be equally dazzled indoors in a beautiful, historical barn with exposed wood beams hung with strong lights. Rain or shine we’ll be comfy, surrounded by serenity and beauty. Let's hit the road (albeit it'll be a quick road trip; it's only 20 miles north in Lake Forest) & spend time together at the Elawa Foundation.

Agenda:

  • Meet at Elawa Farms by 11am
  • 11am: 45-minute guided tour of the grounds, historic buildings & beautiful gardens
  • 11:45 - 12:45: Private Gentle Yoga Class taught by Kelli Wefenstette
  • 1:00 - 2:00: Fresh lunch curated by Elawa's talented private chef
  • Adjourn 2:30pm (or linger around the property, journal in the gardens, or grab your bike/hiking shoes to enjoy the nearby trails)

Fresh Lunch Menu:

Locally sourced chicken, Freshly baked quiches, tossed seasonal field greens, Mediterranean-inspired grain salad, fresh baked cookies & brewed iced tea.

*Gluten Free and Vegan options available upon request. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions at time of reservation.*

Other Activities:

Only a 20-30min drive from the city, you may choose to stay afterwords to meander around the gardens. Or make a day of it by biking/hiking the miles of trails in the Middlefork Savannah located adjacent to Elawa's property.

About your instructor:

Kelli (she/her) teaches a koshic model of integration incorporating curious movement, alignment, somatics, and exploration of body mechanics combined with mindfulness and emotional regulation for an empowered, embodied experience on and off the mat.

Kelli earned her BA in Psychology and Religious Studios from Monmouth College and a MA in Social Justice and Community Development from Loyola University Chicago. She completed a 200-hr Hatha yoga teacher training with Global Yoga and Wellness and a 300-hr Elemental yoga teacher training in Eubud, Bali with Lotus Yoga Temple. She has completed further studies in prenatal yoga, Ayurveda, nervous system regulation, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Thai Yoga Massage, and psych-sensitive, trauma-informed yoga instruction. When she's not practicing yoga, she is renovating a lakehouse near her hometown of Cuba, Illinois, cheering with the Chicago Spirit Brigade, and taking naps with her cat, Jubilee.
