About the event
Did know that 22 MILLION pounds of plastic is dumped into the Great Lakes and 11 million pounds alone is dumped into Lake Michigan each year? Did you also know this precious resource harbors 20% of the planet's fresh water supply?Â
In observance of Earth Day and in a spirit of gratitude, join Wildlight Yoga in a seva project (selfless service) to clean the beaches of Lake Michigan following a beach yoga class led by Kelli Wefenstette.
Yoga will begin at 9a by "The Dock" on Montrose Beach. After our practice, cleanup will run for approximately one hour followed by a brief closing meditation.Â
There is no cost to participate and all attendees who complete cleanup will receive a code to redeem for a free class at Wildlight Yoga.
In the event of inclement weather, this event will be cancelled. There is no rain date at this time.

About the instructor
Kelli Wefenstette (she/her) came to yoga seeking movement post-college after a childhood of dance and acrobats. She unexpectedly found relief from years of anxiety, substantial grief, and the pain of chronic illness as well. Yoga brought her safely home to her body as her magic and her medicine for living abundantly and unapologetically. Yoga is her freedom journey towards a life of awakening, authenticity, and adventure.
Kelli teaches a koshic model of integration incorporating curious movement, alignment, somatics, and exploration of body mechanics combined with mindfulness and emotional regulation for an empowered, embodied experience on and off the mat.
Kelli earned her BA in Psychology and Religious Studios from Monmouth College and a MA in Social Justice and Community Development from Loyola University Chicago. She completed a 200-hr Hatha yoga teacher training with Global Yoga and Wellness and a 300-hr Elemental yoga teacher training in Eubud, Bali with Lotus Yoga Temple. She has completed further studies in prenatal yoga, Ayurveda, nervous system regulation, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Thai Yoga Massage, and psych-sensitive, trauma-informed yoga instruction.
A Community Organizer trained in Asset-Based Community Development, Kelli opened Wildlight Yoga in 2018, where she is currently the Director, after a career in non-profit management. When she's not practicing yoga, she is renovating a lakehouse near her hometown of Cuba, Illinois, cheering with the Chicago Spirit Brigade, and taking naps with her cat, Jubilee. She lives in Jeff Park.
