JULIA STEMPER
200 HR YOGA TEACHER
Julia Stemper is an artist mover who likes practicing yoga with others. She has been teaching yoga for 16 years and practicing for 25. Initially drawn to Vinyasa Flow Yoga, her study includes focused practice in Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Yin. Julia arrived at yoga as a way to create a more physical awareness of body in relation to onstage performing, but stuck around with it as it offers just about everything you might need when you happen to need it. As a teacher she hopes to help students find a way to move with mindfulness and confidence, and move in a way that works for them. Her practice is focused on alignment, breath, and experiencing movement, believing that with these comes an opportunity for reflection and meditation at each practitioners own pace.
In addition to teaching yoga at Wildlight, Julia works with downstairs neighbor Filament Theatre, encouraging families to play, is the Artistic Director of touring Shakespeare company Stone Soup Shakespeare, and teaches theater at various institutions throughout the Midwest.
